Junior Architectural Designer: 0 - 3 Years’ Experience

Works as a project team member under the direction of a Job Captain or Project Manager and is responsible for assisting with a full range of schematic design, design development, construction document, and construction administrative services.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with on-site measure ups of existing buildings. Preparation of detailed existing condition plans, elevations, and detail drawings.

  • Assisting with architectural design research and documentation.

  • Assisting with the schematic design of projects and presentation drawings using hand and digital rendering techniques.

  • Assisting with the development of architectural construction details.

  • Production of construction drawings for highly detailed custom residences.

  • Assisting with the review and analysis of project bids.

  • Assisting with construction administrative tasks such as job site visits, review of CO’s and AFP’s, lien releases, and project punch list.

  • Assisting with misc. general office administrative tasks.

Minimum qualifications include:

  • M. Arch. or B. Arch. Degree required.

  • Strong creative, technical and communication skills as well as proficiency with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office. Knowledge of Revit, Lumion, Sketch-up, Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator are a plus.

  • Experience with classical/traditional residential architecture and wood frame construction techniques preferred.

  • A strong work ethic and collaborative team-oriented approach.

Job Captain: 2 - 6 Years’ Experience

Coordinating with a Project Manager and the firm’s Principal, directs the work of project teams from schematic design through construction administrative services.

Responsibilities include:

  • Organizing on-site measure ups of existing buildings. Overseeing the preparation of detailed existing condition plans, elevations, and detail drawings.

  • Architectural design research and documentation.

  • Assisting the firm’s Principal with the schematic design of projects. 

  • Presentation drawings using hand and digital rendering techniques.

  • Development of architectural construction details.

  • Leading the production of construction drawings for highly detailed custom residences. Responsible for coordination with consultants, drawing coordination, and document checking of projects.

  • Reviewing and analysis of project bids.

  • Performing construction administrative tasks such as job site visits, review of CO’s and AFP’s, lien releases, and project punch list.

Minimum qualifications include:

  • M. Arch. or B. Arch. Degree required.

  • Strong creative, technical and communication skills as well as proficiency with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.  Knowledge of Revit, Lumion, Sketch-up, Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator are a plus.

  • 2-6 years’ experience with the development of wood frame construction documents and building envelope detailing. Experience with classical/traditional residential architecture is a plus.

  • NCARB certificate holders and architectural licenses in CT or adjacent states preferred.

  • Demonstrates a strong work ethic and collaborative team-oriented approach.
