Darien Scout Cabin - Renovation Study

The Andrew Shaw Memorial Trust owns and operates the Boy Scout Cabin in Darien, CT. Founded in 1926, the Trust’s first scout cabin on a wooded lot on West Avenue lasted until 1998 when after years of flooding caused serious structural damage, it was decided to replace the original cabin with a new more modern structure. Now, after 15 years of hard use and a growing local scouting program, the Trust is looking to increase the functionality, update the facility for the coming years and recapture some of the woodsy charm of the original structure.

CHA has designed the interior and exterior renovations to address these needs. The proposed changes reclad the current structure in natural cedar, replace the roofing, incorporate a solar voltaic system for electricity, and windows and doors to increase natural daylight and upgrade the finishes in the main meeting room, Scribner Hall.
