- MONTECITO WATERFRONT RESIDENCE -
Description
The design of this Montecito waterfront retreat emanated from a client’s purchase of a condominium unit in a mid-1960’s complex that would serve as a west coast counterpart to their traditional east coast home. Careful planning and design allowed this project to successfully meet the client’s goal of providing a relaxing transitional living environment.
Constructed in the 1960’s, the condominium needed to be completely renovated in order to provide the family with the modern amenities they needed and the architectural character they desired. The newly configured plan includes an Entry Hall with access to both the Kitchen and the large open Living/Dining area, and the Master Bedroom and Guest Bedroom with en Suited Baths. Outside, and beyond the Living and Master Bedroom areas is a covered porch with a fire pit that runs the length of the unit and provides a sheltered outdoor space with panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean. A neutral color palette, along with Venetian plaster walls, limestone floors and French-polished walnut ceiling beams, doors and trim in the main living areas, are a contemporary twist on the traditional warmth found in the areas’ California mission architectural style.

“As a hardware supplier, Canaan has worked with Charles Hilton and his team for 20 years. In that time, we have observed that Charles is very in tune with his client needs and open to discussions and ideas from other professionals in the industry. The homes and commercial projects are of the highest quality and award winning!”

“It seems as if the Architectural Industry has come to the point of supplying only enough information to get a permit. The contractor is then on his own to solve the problems and the coordination of the trades on site. It was very refreshing, and a pleasure to work with Chuck Hilton’s team. They took the time and effort to draw the details and confirm how each trade interfaced, solving the problems of coordination, and controlling the finishes and therefore the final outcome of the project. This kind of service and expertise is rare in the market today, and an absolute joy to be involved in and with.”
